Aston Martin is returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, and the British brand has unveiled a very special limited edition model - the Aston Martin Valkyrie LM. Only 10 buyers will be able to own one, and it will have no more than 700 horsepower. That may seem low compared to the 1,160 hp of the regular Valkyrie, but the Valkyrie LM is no ordinary Valkyrie hypercar.

It is the equivalent of the Valkyrie Hypercar that competes at Le Mans, including a lean-burning, power-limited version of the Cosworth V12 engine. The 10 lucky owners will be able to proudly claim ownership of the only road-derived hypercar in the WEC.

Racing spec engine and features

The heart of the Valkyrie LM is the same Cosworth 6.5-liter V12 engine that powers both the race car and the road car. But it matches the racing specs, using a lean-burn tune to reduce power to 697 hp, which is about 500 hp less than the roadgoing Valkyrie. This ensures that it is on par with the FIA-homologated hypercar.

It uses a seven-speed sequential transmission, with power sent to the rear axle only. The suspension is racing spec - double wishbones front and rear with pushrod-actuated torsion bar springs and adjustable dampers - and the tires are special items supplied by F1 tire manufacturer Pirelli, 18-inch items on forged aluminum wheels in 12.5- and 14-inch widths.

However, there are some differences to the race car, particularly when it comes to the balance of performance, or BOP, items such as ballast and FIA-spec electronics. These have been completely removed, and Aston has designed the cockpit in a special way to allow the 10 lucky owners to enjoy track days to the fullest.

Here, you still get a six-point FIA 8853 safety harness and fire suppression system, along with a custom carbon fiber racing bucket. The wheel is also a racing item, with an integrated display and shift lights to keep you from revving the engine too much.

The Valkyrie LM has open-loop torque control, while the Racer uses closed-loop, and the torque sensors that limit torque delivery in racing trim have been removed. The engine also runs on regular fuel, instead of race-specific grades.

Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s Head of Endurance Motorsport, said the Valkyrie LM “is virtually identical to the race car currently competing in WEC and IMSA, with only a few minor changes to ensure it is a non-homologated variant and is available for customers to experience and enjoy. The Valkyrie LM represents the most authentic hypercar track experience available today.”

Driver Development Program for Private Owners

This isn’t the first time an automaker has sold versions of its Le Mans racer; that honor goes to the Ferrari 499P Modificata. While Ferrari will retain the cars on behalf of the owners, Valkyrie LM owners will, as Aston puts it, “be free to take full ownership of their car.”

However, Aston will provide full support and a track day setup for the Valkyrie LM, developing owners’ driving skills with a full driver development program.

This “fly-in-and-drive” program is run by a team of race engineers, who teach owners how to handle the car like professional racers. Participating owners will have their cars stored and maintained by Aston Martin, which will also provide transportation to and from the locations where the Valkyrie LM Performance Club will be hosted.

The program offers a number of key benefits:

  • Professional driver coaches
  • Pre-drive classroom sessions
  • One-on-one driver supervision
  • Data and onboard video analysis
  • Full driver kit including helmet, HANS device, boots, race suit

Each owner will participate in a special handover ceremony, with the first track day taking place in Q2 2026. Two drive days will follow each quarter at F1-standard circuits. Pricing has not been disclosed, but as is always the case with such programs, if you have to ask...
