RAM ProMaster Cargo van drivers need extra attention in the background. This is because there is a problem with the rear camera function in a large number of RAM vans. According to a safety recall report published by the US Road Traffic Safety Bureau (NHTSA), a total of 235,640 RAM ProMaster Vans have been recalled due to the rear camera malfunction.
In particular, the ProMaster Cargo Van has a poor rear view, so if the rear camera does not work, it can cause serious safety risks. This is an example of joining the basic safety function difficulties that other automakers are experiencing.
According to the recall document, the problem is that the software defects in the van's security gateway module (SGW) interfere with the system, and the rear camera video is not displayed when the background gear is operated. The survey of this issue began in September last year, and the vehicles were produced between August 17, 2021 and May 14, 2025.

Dealers have already been informed of this issue last week. Although new cars sold in the United States for more than seven years have been mandatory for rear cameras, many manufacturers have recently caused problems related to rear cameras.
Various manufacturers, including Ford, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Volvo, have been recalled for hundreds of thousands of vehicles for more than one million vehicles. Therefore, businesses that operate Ram ProMaster or vehicles need to be aware of this safety issue and quickly get the software update for the vehicle.
