The story of this McLaren P1 car begins with Hurricane Ian in the year 2022. Floodwaters swept a multimillion-dollar McLaren P1 hypercar out of its Florida garage. This car hit trees and other things on the way, and was finally found stuck on top of a toilet, on which all the garbage of the flood was deposited. It seemed like a sad ending for such a powerful car. But because this McLaren was very valuable, it was decided that it would be rebuilt.
The damaged McLaren P1 was bought by YouTuber Tavarish, whose real name is Freddy Hernandez. He paid more than half a million dollars for this car. He started showing the work of fixing this car on his YouTube channel. His first video came out on March 31, 2023. Upon purchase, this McLaren car was in very poor condition. His rear wheels were jammed and one of the tyres had burst. Inside the car was full of sea water, and a very strong smell was coming from the front trunk.
Now Hernandez is dreaming big. They are working with the original designer of the McLaren P1, Frank Stephenson. His goal is to make this car the fastest McLaren in the world. They are calling it "P1 Evo." Currently, the McLaren Speedtail holds the record of 250 mph. The team of Hernandez and Stephenson wants to reach speeds of more than 260 mph.

To make this "P1 Evo," many major changes are being made in the car. The team has removed the P1's hybrid battery and its drive part. This has reduced the weight of the car by about 300 pounds. The older twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 engine has now been replaced by a new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine, with parts like the McLaren Senna's carbon fibre intake manifold. This engine can now rotate up to 9,500 rpm.
This new engine will deliver more than 1,400 hp on race fuel. The exterior body of the car will be completely carbon fiber, and it will also be fitted with active aero parts back and forth.
The work on this high-speed machine is expected to be completed by November 4, 2025. Next, the top-speed run will take place on NASA's three-mile-long runway in Cape Canaveral, Florida. On this special occasion, Top Gear's Ben Collins will drive this "P1 Evo." This whole project is more than just fixing the car; This is an attempt to make a broken car a record-breaking machine.
