A Ford Bronco Sport owner had a big problem while washing his car. One small mistake could have caused a lot of damage to his car. Luckily, a good Samaritan saved him from this big danger. This incident is a lesson in how important it is to use the right settings on your Ford Bronco when washing your car.
Content creator Victoria (@visunderhiseye) tells her story in a video that has over 214,000 views. She bought her 2021 Ford Bronco Sport just a month ago and didn't know what she would have to do at the car wash. Victoria specifically cautions people in her video.

"If you have a Bronco Sport, make sure you turn off this button when you go to the car wash," Victoria said. She pointed to the "auto-hold" button and insisted, "Turn it off! Turn it off!". Victoria explained in her post that even the car wash workers in her area did not know that this button stops the car even when it is in neutral.
Her car kept moving forward on the wash strip, but then stopped moving. The entire car wash staff came to help, but no solution was found. Finally, a car wash manager came and fixed the problem. He simply pressed a button.

As soon as the manager pressed the "auto-hold" button, the Ford Bronco moved forward and left the car wash without any problems. Victoria again said in her post, "Seriously, please turn this button off when going through a car wash!". This "auto-hold" button is often near the parking buttons.
This button looks like a handout in a "stop" gesture. According to Ford, the job of the "auto-hold" feature is to keep your car at a stop even when you take your foot off the brake. This feature is great. It comes in handy when you're in stop-and-go traffic or on a hill.

But, if you don't know this button is on or you forget to turn it off, it can cause problems in situations where your car needs to move without stopping. One such situation is an automatic car wash. When "auto-hold" is on, your car's brakes stay on, even if you're in neutral, as required at a car wash.
If you enter a car wash with it on, the conveyor belt will try to push your car forward. But "auto-hold" will resist the motion because it will keep the brakes locked. Keeping "auto-hold" on at a car wash can cause your car to jerk or have emergency braking actions, which can damage the car.
So, when it is your turn to go to the car wash, make sure you turn it off. Victoria's incident teaches us how important it is to understand the small settings of the car. Not knowing a small button can prevent major damage.
