Ram did not have a good sales year in 2024. The brand has gone all out to make a comeback. Ram apologized for its "wokeness" and brought back the HMI V8 as an option in the Ram 1500 lineup. But their efforts don't stop there.

The brand has several new products to announce, including perhaps the new 1500 TRX and a rival to the Ford Ranger and Maverick truck. Before all that comes, Ram wants to give a big news in the full-size truck segment, as the brand has just announced a segment-best powertrain warranty.

Ram has extended its powertrain warranty to 10 years or 100,000 miles. That's more than the previous five years and 60,000 miles. The new warranty is for 2026 model year Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram Chassis Cab 3500/4500/5500, and Ram ProMaster vans.

This warranty covers the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles. Ram is offering this warranty to all customers and businesses who purchase or lease a vehicle. Please note that this warranty does not apply to Ram fleet purchases.

This new warranty gives the Ram 1500 a big edge over its full-size truck competition. Trucks like the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Toyota Tundra offer a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

This warranty of RAM is equivalent to some of the best ICE warranties in the industry. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis also offer a 10-year or 100,000-mile warranty. Mitsubishi also offers a 10-year or 100,000-mile warranty on most of its vehicles, which is one of the main features of this brand.

Full-size trucks are now more expensive; Top-tier trucks can go for upwards of $80,000. Ram now touts its affordable 1500 pickup lineup for the "under $55,000" market. Due to these high prices, customers have to take long financing deals to reduce their monthly expenses.

According to Ram, about 80 percent of new truck loans are longer than five years. There is a big gap in the five-year warranty, where those who buy the truck may have to bear the cost of major repairs, such as engine failure, while they are still paying the installments of the truck. This new warranty saves customers from this worry.

The extended powertrain warranty should be a strong selling point for the Ram. We wouldn't be surprised to see other manufacturers start offering longer warranties as well. The main issue for Ram will be to provide a more affordable truck option.

Ram is no longer making the 1500 Classic as a budget option. Ram doesn't (at least right now) have a midsize truck for buyers who want to spend a little less. The key will be to offer more options, such as the Ram 1500 Express, to get a "cool" truck for less than $50,000.
