The Tesla Model Y Performance was spotted while turning on the famous Nürburgring, undergoing what is considered the final test before its official launch. This compact crossover is already the best-selling electric vehicle in America and the second best-selling non-Pickup Truck after the Toyota RAV4.

At the beginning of this year, Tesla introduced the refreshed Model Y, code name "Juniper", launching the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range All-Wheel Drive variants. The next expected version is the performance All-Wheel Drive, which promises to satisfy buyers with a speed of speed.

Although Tesla has not yet officially announced the performance numbers for the Model Y 'Juniper' Performance, this version is expected to follow the Model 3 Performance closely. That version boasts 510 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

The Model Y Performance is expected to offer a faster 0-60 mph than the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive, perhaps in the low 3 seconds, and a maximum speed greater than 125 mph. This increase in performance will probably result in a decrease in EPA autonomy below 300 miles.

The performance version of the Model Y should present characteristics similar to those of the Model 3 Performance. Among these there may be a redesigned front and rear, complete with a rear diffuser and a carbon fiber spoiler.

Other significant additions include adaptive suspension, the track mode V3 with the ability to customize the balance of handling, stability and regeneration of braking. The passenger compartment should benefit from padded sports seats and carbon fiber details, while the performance will be enhanced by light forged wheels and high-performance brakes.

Tesla has not yet released official announcements regarding the availability and prices of the Model Y Performance. However, based on the previous Tesla launches, such information will probably appear on the online configurator once the company is ready to put it for sale.

Lars Moravy, VP of Vehicle Engineering of Tesla, told Jay Leno in February that the subsequent variants of the Model Y would have been launched later in 2025. Regarding the price, it is estimated that if the update it costs as for Model 3 ($ 7,500 more than the long range all-wheel drive), the Model Y performance all-wheel drive could start from $56,490.
