Although the Telluride from Kia Motors was launched in 2019, its popularity has not waned. Usually, sales decrease as the model gets older. But the Telluride is bucking the trend. Sales have been increasing in the US for several years. In 2024, Kia sold 1,15,504 units. This number will likely increase this year. Through September, full-size SUV sales are up 13%.
When will the new one arrive?
Although sales are still strong, the second generation is coming. The new one will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20, 2025. But, while the current one will be a 2025 model year, the new one won’t hit showrooms until 2027. So, it’ll be a long time before the new Telluride gets to US dealers. It’ll likely be available in the second half of next year.
Design and powertrain
Kia has released a few teaser images ahead of the debut. Although the Telluride is hidden in the dark, some details are visible. It’s gonna be boxy. It gets the company’s new design language. That means a new vertical lighting design. The front end looks like the EV9, but it’ll have a functional grille to cool the engine.

As for the engine, we can expect the same powertrains as its sister model, the Palisade. The three-row SUV uses a new 3.5-liter V-6 naturally aspirated engine. It makes 287 horsepower. Or, a hybrid setup could be available. It pairs a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to make 329 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque. Both will be available in two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
Size and price
No surprise the new Telluride is slightly larger than the current one. Hyundai lengthened the Palisade by 2.5 inches and the wheelbase by 2.7 inches. That adds more space to the third row, so the Kia will likely grow in size similarly. Price will be $41,035 for the 2026 Palisade, and $37,885 for the current Telluride. The new Telluride will likely bridge that gap and be closer to the Palisade.
