The CPSC has recently warned about the danger associated with e-bikes. This threat is associated with the company's FengQS F7 Pro e-bike. The FengQS website no longer sells this model, but its Q8 Plus model is very similar. Actually, the problem is not with the e-bike, but its battery. The CPSC has received nine reports of fire related to this F7 Pro e-bike. Two of these reports also mention a total of 2,000 worth of goods being burned.
This is very worrying. CPSC checked and found that there are about 180 such units in the US, which have the same battery problem. FengQS is a Chinese company. The company is also known as Shenzhen Fengqisi Car Industry Co., Ltd. These e-bikes were sold on Amazon between May 2024 and December 2024. These bikes were priced between $700 and ,200.

According to the CPSC, these defective batteries are prone to overheating and fire. The report clearly states "fire and burn hazard." A lithium battery can heat up to 1,000 degrees Celsius (1,832 Fahrenheit) on average. In some cases this temperature can even reach 5,000 Fahrenheit.
If you have such an e-bike, remove it immediately. You can't throw these bad batteries in the garbage. You need to contact such services that collect defective lithium-ion batteries.
FengQS is no longer selling the F7 Pro e-bike on its website. However, the company has not made any changes to the battery. The CPSC had asked FengQS to start the recall plan, but they refused. This clearly shows that FengQS does not care about its customers. They've made their money; They don't matter.

This is not the first time Chinese or no-name e-bikes have caused problems. To avoid this, buy an e-bike of a good and trustworthy company, even if it is a little expensive. Companies such as Engwe and Vanpowers have made Chinese-made e-bikes that have not had any major battery problems.
The second way is to research about the motor and battery brands of the e-bike and choose the one with the highest safety rating. If they still seem expensive, you can buy your own e-bike parts and assemble them at a bicycle shop. Avoid buying FengQS e-bikes.
