The Toyota Mega Cruiser is a special vehicle built in the 1990s for Japan's defense forces. It's the civilian form of a military vehicle, just like the Humvee. It was not built as a large Land Cruiser. The Mega Cruiser and the civilian version of the Humvee, the Hummer H1, are both very large, and both have a similar design, straightforward and functional. Toyota had built about 150 Mega Cruisers for civilian use.
Of these civilian cars, however, there was only one that featured a high roof and stadium-style seats from the Toyota factory. This particular high-roof vehicle was chosen because its first owner was a safari company from Kenya. It was bought by the current seller in 2024, after which it was brought to the US and painted in the new dark blue color. Its color is green. The vehicle's odometer shows only 65,000 miles, and the low wear and tear on the seats suggests that this reading may be correct.
Under the hood of this Mega Cruiser is a Turbodiesel inline-four engine. It has a displacement of 4.1 liters. The engine produces 150bhp and 280Nm of torque. It comes with a four-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel-drive system. These figures mean that the Mega Cruiser will not run very fast, but the engine has enough power to get you out of difficult situations or pull heavy luggage.

The car's height from the ground of 1.3 ft means that it can run on rough roads without much trouble. The car rides on 17-inch wheels shod with 37-inch Bridgestone Mud Dueler 671 tyres A spare tire is also included, which is mounted at the rear. Its 11-foot-long wheelbase and this model's high roof can create a spacious cabin after the seats are removed. This cart is great for those who like "overlanding."
The car is currently at a dealership in New Hampshire and has a clear Florida title. It is up for sale on an auction site called Bring A Trailer. At the time of writing the article, the auction was six days away, and the current bid was only $4,000. It's a right-hand drive vehicle, which might make your experience at McD's drive-thru a little tricky. It is said to be Toyota's answer to the Hummer, which is much bigger, capable and ready for a new home.
