Android Auto 14.7 is a new beta version. You can download and install the APK file on your Android device. This method is quick and easy. If you have not previously given permission to install the app from anywhere other than the Google Play Store, you may have to give some permissions.

There are no major changes in this new version. But the work on the light theme continues. Now the app also includes an option to switch between automatic, light and dark themes.

This ensures that a light mode is coming on. However, there is no information on when it will materialise. Google is also working on some more major updates for Android Auto. One of the special things is to add climate controls directly to the app.

Some cars no longer have physical buttons to change the temperature. They rely on touch controls on the infotainment screen. When Android Auto runs on the same screen, you have to exit the app and go to the car's own software to control the climate system.

Google doesn't like this. The main reason for this is that users have to exit the UI of Android Auto. So, Google is now working on adding support for climate controls directly in the app. When this feature is enabled, the air conditioning controls will appear on the main screen in the Android Auto interface.

It will also have options to adjust heated seats and defroster. Everything will always be on the screen. With this, users will not have to leave the running app to adjust the temperature in the cabin. Google has not yet announced this feature, but there is evidence of its development in earlier Android Auto versions.

Google is also preparing to launch video apps on Android Auto. This is part of a larger plan, in which browsers for Android Auto users will also come. They will be able to go on the web when their cars are stopped. Video apps like YouTube will only work when the car is parked. When users start driving, they will stop watching the video.

The new build is Android Auto 14.7.1525 beta. If Google does not find any major new problems, it can be brought to the production channel next week.
